Cine Gear Expo Award Reception (Invitation Only)

At the Paramount Theater and Paseo Grounds

Friday, June 5, 8:00 pm – 11:00pm

Indy, Student Shorts, & Feature Film Competition winners will be announced. Also the Lifetime Technical Achievement Award will be given to Arri and the Lifetime Legacy Award to Bob Fisher.

Located in Munich, Germany, Arnold and Richter Cine Technik was founded in 1917 and is the world’s leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of motion picture camera, digital intermediate and lighting equipment. Throughout its 97 year history, ARRI has been associated with constant innovation and revolutionary technologies in all of its core businesses. The company is involved in all aspects of the film industry: engineering, design, manufacture, production, visual effects, postproduction, equipment rental, laboratory services and studio lighting solutions.

A third-generation company, ARRI is owned by the Stahl family — descendants of co-founder Robert Richter and who in 2012 made a long-term commitment to the industry by buying the share belonging to the descendant of the other co-founder, August Arnold.

The Cine Gear Expo 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to ARRI in recognition of the significant contributions made to advancing the art and craft of Cinematography. CEO and President Glenn Kennel will be accepting the award.

Bob Fisher was born and raised in Brooklyn. He earned a journalism degree from Long Island University in 1958. Fisher worked for a local newspaper for six months until he joined the Army. He served as the base journalist in Anniston, Alabama. Just before completing his military obligation, Fisher was hired to interview 40 members of the American Society of  Cinematographers and write a tribute book that was presented to a member of the film industry who was retiring.

Fisher estimates that he has subsequently written between 3,000 and 4,000 magazine articles about cinematographers and other narrative and documentary filmmakers. He was made an honorary member of  ASC in 2003. Fisher is one of seven living honorary members. Four of the others are astronauts.

Fisher and Italian journalist Lorenzo Codelli recently co-authored “The Art of Cinematography”, a book envisioned by Vittorio Storaro, ASC, AIC . Each of them wrote profiles of  75 cinematographers, including how they and one of their films influenced the art form. The book also includes a number of essays describing the evolution of the art form, images that illustrate the words, and a DVD with shots from all of the films featured in profiles.

The Cine Gear Expo Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Fisher on Friday evening, June 5 during the VIP Awards Reception at The Paramount Theater Paseo Grounds.
