This four hour crash course is an intensive, hands-on class designed to fully immerse an experienced camera operator on the core principals of the Freefly MoVI. AbelCine and Freefly instructors will discuss and demonstrate the technical aspects and basic fundamentals of operating the MoVI system. You’ll be able to get your hands on the M5, M10, M15 and the various accessories used for a successful shoot. Topics covered will include:

Master the PMW-F5 and PMW-F55 cameras, learn how to shoot raw with FS700 with the Odyssey 7Q. Attend this in-depth workshop on getting the very best from the Sony PMW-F5 F55 and FS700 conducted by Alister Chapman (DoP/Producer/Editor).

Learn how to maximize the benefits of exposure indexing, wide color gamuts, S-Log and RAW. What are the differences between the cameras Custom and Cine EI shooting modes and what are their practical applications. How does the Sony FS700 shoot raw with the Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q and what are it’s unique benefits.

We will look at the use of Cine EI to rate the F5 and F55 cameras at ISO’s different to the native ISO. How to use and create look up tables both in camera and in postproduction, including how you can use those LUT’s for a custom “baked in” look for fast turn-around productions. For the FS700 we will cover the correct way to set up the camera for 4K raw and how to use S-Log2.

In addition, the class will look at the cameras different shooting modes including high frame rate shooting. The F5 and F55’s super16mm crop mode shooting plus advanced features such as the interchangeable optical low pass filter that can provide a rich and creamy look when desired. Held in the renowned Digital Motion Picture Center on the lot of Sony Pictures
