Moderator

Jay Holben - Moderator

Jay Holben is an independent producer and director in Los Angeles, California and a former director of photography. He is an author of two commercially published books on cinematography, a contributing editor for American Cinematographer Magazine, faculty instructor for Global Cinematography Institute and international lecturer, an Associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the chair of the ASC Motion Imaging Technology Council Lens Committee. Holben started his Hollywood career as an electrician and quickly made his way through the ranks to gaffer and then Director of Photography where he worked for a decade on features, commercials, television and music videos. He recently directed and produced the romantic feature drama Before the Dawn and was the supervising director on the gritty independent drama Black Tar Road. His other work includes the Stephen King short adaptation, Paranoid, segments compiled in the analogy films All Hallow’s Eve 2, The Invoking and Strange Events. He was the 2nd unit director and cinematographer for HBO/Cinemax’s Femme Fatales and a consultant on the first season of Showtime’s Dexter among many others.

Brian J. Goldberg - WPA

Brian J. Goldberg began his career in 2007 as a member of Paradigm Talent Agency’s Business Affairs Department. While at Paradigm, his passion for below-the-line talent became evident, leading Brian to represent television and film’s top editors, cinematographers, line producers, costume designers, and production designers. Considered to be a part time “manager” by his clients, he is extremely hands on with all of his clients at WPA and their goals. Brian is an active member of the Television Academy.

Kristen Tolle-Billings - WPA

Kristen Tolle-Billings began working with below-the-line talent the summer after her 1st year of law school, initially with Walter Partos and then Bill Dispoto. She then joined Paul Hook’s Production Department and the Agent Trainee program at ICM where she focused on commercials and music videos in and outside the US. In 2007 she was recruited by Paradigm to take over the commercial & music video department, and in 2010 she was one of the founders of WPA. Kristen is passionate and driven, as well as thoughtful and innovative when helping to craft her clients’ careers. She has a managerial style and believes in strategizing across all mediums to sustain relevancy. Currently, Kristen helps run the commercial & music video department at WPA US and oversees the social media department for WPA Worldwide.

Julia Kole - Artistry

Julia Kole is employed by Artistry, a boutique talent agency specializing in Directors of Photography, Production Designers and Film Editors. She has worked in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. After graduation from Emerson college, Julia moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in the film industry. She worked as an assistant to Herb Tobias, and then later Spyros Skouras. She became an agent at the Skouras agency and signed Emmanuel Lubezki, Declan Quinn, Rogier Stoffers and many others. In 2000 she started her own agency with Steve Jacob and after a 10 year partnership took a hiatus from the business but film was in her blood. In 2013 she started working with Artistry and has worked with up and coming DPs as well as seasoned professionals. Current clients include Declan Quinn, Rogier Stoffers, Luca Bigazzi, Stephane Fontaine, Mott Hupfel, Khalid Mohtaseb, Ben Fordesman, Guy Godfree, Benoit Soler, Isaac Bauman, Eve Cohen, etc.

Dan Burnside - DDA

Dan Burnside is DDA’s Vice President,Head of Features and Television. Since stepping into the role in 2016, he oversees narrative bookings for the agency’s cinematographers, production designers, costume designers, editors and line producers.He represents top tier talent including two-time Oscar nominated director of photography Jeff Cronenweth, ASC (Tales From the Loop pilot); director of photography Maryse Alberti (Ron Howard’s Hillbilly Elegy); costume designer Nadine Haders (Get Out) and Emmy-nominated DPs James Hawkinson (The Man in the High Castle), Kira Kelly (13th) and Rodney Taylor, ASC (Ballers). Recently, he booked his clients on several groundbreaking projects: James Hawkinson on National Geographic’s Barkskins pilot; production designer Rika Nakanishi on Ava DuVernay’s Cherish the Day series; and director of photography Danny Ruhlmann, ACS on Netflix’s upcoming event series Jupiter’s Legacy.

Craig Mizrahi - Innovative Artists

Craig Mizrahi is a Production Agent at Innovative Artists, representing eight categories of creative artists for feature film, television and advertising content, based both domestically and abroad. These include Producers, cinematographers, production designers, costume designers, editors, stunt coordinators, VFX supervisors and ADs. In 2015, Craig was honored with Variety’s annual “New Leaders” Award. Craig is a leading proponent in his field for the inclusion of diverse artists on set and equal pay for women. When not fighting for his clients, he spends much time giving back to the next generation as a frequent guest presenter at the renowned American Film Institute, and has been a panelist at the ICG, MPEG, cinegear and many film festivals.
