Eddie AI, the AI assistant video editor for video professionals, today announced a major set of workflow updates anchored by Night Shift, Eddie AI’s agentic post-production workflow that turns raw footage into a rough cut while editors are away from their desk. Eddie AI will showcase Night Shift alongside new context-aware A- and B-roll logging, expanded Pro+ project capacity, still-image support for B-roll logging, and new backgrounder support at Cine Gear Expo LA 2026.
Eddie AI will be demonstrating these updates at booth S1611/Stage 16 of Cine Gear Expo LA 2026, taking place June 5–6 at the Universal Studios Lot in Universal City, California.

Released in April, Night Shift is designed for the moment every production team knows well: the end of a long shoot day, when hours of new footage still need to be processed, understood, organized, and shaped into something useful. With Night Shift, video professionals can send Eddie AI their footage and receive a structured rough cut, giving editors, producers, and directors a faster starting point the next morning.
“Night Shift is about giving editors their first creative pass back,” said Shamir Allibhai, founder and CEO of Eddie AI. “Instead of starting the day with a blank timeline and hours of raw footage, teams start with a rough cut, logs, and organized material that reflect the story they are trying to tell. The editor is still in control — Eddie just helps them get to the creative decisions faster.”
Alongside Night Shift, Eddie AI is launching Logging v2, which gives editors more control over how Eddie interprets and organizes interviews and B-Roll footage. Users can now specify up to five topics or categories for Eddie to focus on during analysis. This lets teams guide Eddie toward the themes, characters, locations, products, or story beats that matter most.
For interview footage, Eddie AI can identify and organize soundbites around the editor’s chosen themes. For visual material, Eddie AI can now focus B-roll analysis around specific people, objects, locations, actions, or brand-relevant details. The result is more relevant metadata, faster organization, and better source material for rough cuts, stringouts, and downstream NLE workflows.
Eddie AI also now supports still images in B-roll logging workflows, a popular feature request. This allows editors working with production stills, reference images, archival material, or mixed media to include those assets as part of the same broader organization and storytelling process.
Additional updates include:
- Expanded Pro+ Capacity – Pro+ now supports 20 hours of source material, making it more suitable for larger edits, documentary projects, and multi-day shoots.
- Backgrounder Document Support – Editors can attach a Google Doc URL or upload PDFs/Word documents as backgrounders when importing media, giving Eddie richer context for the story, characters, brand, brief, or creative direction.
- Context-Aware A- and B-Roll Logging – Users can guide Eddie’s logging and organization by specifying the topics, categories, or visual details that matter most to the project.
These updates build on Eddie AI’s Docs/Stringouts workflow, which lets users import media once and generate multiple outputs, including rough cuts, social clips, stringouts, A-roll logs, and B-roll logs. Logs and edits can be exported to Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
