Join Canon Fellow Michael Bravin as he sits down with the creative team of “Scared To Death”. This film follows a group of filmmakers who attend a seance at an abandoned children’s orphanage to do research for a movie. That’s their first mistake. The team will discuss their choice of Canon’s C500 Mark II, Flex Zooms and Sumire primes to meet the creative challenges in shooting this taut horror film. We will explore the excellent high ISO and low light performance of the Canon C500 Mark II and the Canon Full Frame Flex Zoom’s 8K T2.4 performance, especially for the séance a key night-time interior location. Allowing for great low noise performance while maintaining the color performance and excellent skin tones that are part of Director Paul Boyd’s storytelling and DP Steven Poster’s visual style for this film. We will touch on the on-set color workflow, ease of use, set up and rigging. The audience will come away with an understanding of how these filmmakers were supported in their creative intent with their choice of these Canon Cinema EOS cameras and lenses.

For Freeway Werewolf, using Kondor Blue’s PRO-BLADE SSD recording handle, Dorson captured a ProRes 422 HQ workflow via USB-C. For Orchid, using the S5IIX’s Real Time LUT function, Meredith was able to work in the same Log C wide gamut color space as his A-Camera – an ARRI Mini LF.”

Christiane mentors law students from Pepperdine and Loyola Law Schools, is a high school mock trial coach, and co-founded Hearts Giving Hope Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides free music and art programs to children in underprivileged and underserved communities.
  • Laura Pursley is a marketer who has worked at the cutting-edge of entertainment technology for the past decade. Laura has led camera launches for Sony and Panavision and enterprise campaigns for Adobe and Frame.io. She was instrumental in the expansion of post house Light Iron from its flagship facility in Hollywood to six locations around the country. Laura serves on the Hollywood Professional Alliance’s Women in Post Committee, and frequently volunteers as a career mentor.

  • Bill Bennett, ASCcinematographer and pilot based in Los Angeles California. Bill has been shooting automobiles, aircraft, people, and places for national television commercials for over 20 years. Bill recently received the President’s Award from the American Society of Cinematographers.
  • Anka MalatynskaNamed as one of the “10 Rising Stars of Cinematography 2019” in American Cinematographer Magazine. Anka has continually sought out and created work that is bold and diverse. She is as adept at leading a hundred-person crew through the monsoon-soaked jungles of South East Asia as she is at cultivating an intimate atmosphere on a three-person documentary shoot. Anka actively mentors future cinematographers worldwide. 
  • James Kniest — thrives on the collaborative nature of filmmaking and shoots all manner of projects from feature films and television to commercials, promos, and music videos.  Problem-solving as part of a team fuels his sense of adventure, whether working on location deep in a forest or inside a green screen studio. Kniest prides himself on utilizing cranes, dollies, Steadicam and handheld techniques to energize the camera and support the story.
